A case of localized neonatal herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection involved a
prior fetal scalp electrode site. Rupture of the fetal membranes, placement of
the fetal scalp electrode and delivery occurred within 30 minutes. The mother
had no previous history of genital lesions, and no herpetic lesions were noted
at delivery.
